C.D. Leganés coach Paco López appeared at a press conference on Sunday after the match between Leganés and A.D. Ceuta at the Alfonso Murube Stadium, corresponding to matchday 14 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, which ended in a 1-2 victory.
The coach assessed the match as follows:
End of the streak: "I value this victory highly. First, because of Ceuta's streak at home, how they were playing, and how difficult it is to score here; only Sporting had done so. We knew we were going to suffer, and we did. The team has been doing an extraordinary job, and when that isn't reflected in points, it can give a different impression. We did the same job as last week in terms of attitude and doing things right. This team deserves more than it is getting in terms of points, and this reinforces the players' work. We showed that we have potential, arguments to be able to climb the table. This group deserves it, it has been a fair reward for the work they have been doing in many games. Also the fans and those supporters who have traveled to Ceuta today".
Suffering at the end: “When we conceded that goal in the final minutes, it's true that you suffer. We weren't in too much trouble and we could have sealed the win, but when you're playing with a low block, things like that can happen. Those minutes are even more painful”.
Game plan: "We had two plans without the ball. Ceuta is very well organized and handles high pressure situations very well. If we didn't adjust well, we had to come back as a unit, and it worked out perfectly. We have a lot of arguments, and we were being penalized for not being effective in the opponent's area. Today we were effective with Rubén Peña's goal, and then we felt comfortable taking advantage of the spaces Ceuta left us".
Yellow cards at the start: “Marvel is a more impetuous player. I was less concerned about Rubén because he has a lot of experience. We talked to them at halftime, and they played smart”.
