C.D. Leganés coach Igor Oca appeared at a press conference on Saturday after the match between Leganés and Cultural Leonesa at the Ontime Butarque Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The coach gave his assessment of the match as follows:
Match summary: "We are in a competition where your mentality in adverse situations makes all the difference. All teams have talent. In the second half, we didn't improve much in terms of our play, but we did in terms of our attitude. The match allows us all to face reality. This is also who we are, and we have presented a very different image to that of the three matches we have won. We also need to look at individual performances. The turning point is not home wins or taking steps forward to score points. Are we going to do something to prevent this from happening? We experienced situations in the first half that were far from what we want. We deserve what we heard tenfold. We have to face it. The best motivation is pain, and today we have to be in a lot of pain. Let's see what we're made of to deal with this situation. A very thorough analysis and learning a lot from this day.“
Looking up: ”We've just won ten out of twelve at home, but we've played a hundred minutes that are far from what we want. We have to face these situations. Why are we going to look up? We have to look at what we have here. As a team, we have to become strong, know our weaknesses, and try to eliminate them. There is talent and good players, but sometimes it's hard to see them in certain situations.“
Reality: ”The situation may suggest that some players don't want it, but that's not the reality. The players want it, but today it's not so simple. A game like this teaches us about these situations and we have to face them. If we motivate ourselves from the pain this causes, we'll move forward."
Cissé, Duk, and Cruz: “These are technical decisions. We thought Juan was an interesting option for us from the bench, although the game then led us to other situations. With Duk, we thought they were going to cause us more difficulties and that there would be another teammate who could help us. And with Cissé, we were looking for other players with more attacking threat. They understand this, despite the disappointment of not being in the starting lineup.”
Signing off on the current situation: "Not at all. We have a lot of room for improvement, and that's the most important thing. We conceded a goal from a throw-in that we'd seen a thousand times before. We're really excited to help the players raise their level. We've seen some who have carried the team on their backs, and that burst of heart rather than judgment has given us the chance to equalize, and we have to appreciate that after how badly we've done. Within all this, we have to take the positive aspects from the steps that have been taken previously."
