C.D. Leganés coach Igor Oca held a press conference on Saturday following the match between the Pepineros and Málaga C.F. at La Rosaleda, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
The coach assessed the match as follows:
A good point: "We came here fully intending to win, but knowing that the opponent has only lost one match here so far this season. We had our chances, but so did they. We had less possession than in other matches, but that was the plan—except for the first twenty minutes, when we gave up a few counterattacks. It’s only fair to acknowledge the work the players have done; we keep fighting and consider the point a good result”.
On Larrubia: “His season has been widely recognized, and committed players like ours know how their counterpart performs. They try to prepare as best they can, but if you focus on one, others emerge. When Franquesa stepped in, he did very well—he even got into crossing situations—and when he had help from Marvel, too. The level of concentration was sufficient to contain a player of that caliber”.
Keeping Málaga off the scoreboard: “We knew Málaga has a strong scoring ability and that we might concede, since they’ve let in more goals than we have. It’s more valuable to bring that positivity to our defensive play. We’re a team with quite a few clean sheets, and getting back to our defensive consistency after conceding five goals in two games makes us happy, because we can build better from there”.
