The CDL Method

International academy

● The CDL Method

You don't join a program. You join the club.

The CDL Method is the methodology of the International Academy of C.D. Leganés. A written game model, a weekly work system, and a measurement that doesn’t depend on anyone’s opinion.

Methodological direction: Faissal Chehade, UEFA Pro. Academy address: Karim Askoul, UEFA Pro.

What is the CDL Method

A school teaches soccer. A club teaches how to compete.

The difference between a football academy and a professional club isn't measured in field hours. It's measured in identity. In many academies, training is an isolated routine; at C.D. Leganés, it's the implementation of a game idea that defines us and is signed off and guaranteed every day by our UEFA Pro coaching staff.

Official methodology: Playing under our brand

We don't improvise here.

The CDL Method is our roadmap: We look for footballers capable of understanding and executing our identity in every area of the field.

Real integration: From the world to Butarque

Integrated youth academy: Players under 16 train alongside our academy teams, competing with their actual age and skill level.

Professional: You won’t train in a separate group. You’ll train in the same facilities, with the same coaches, and under the same standards as the rest of the club’s players.

The requirement to wear our badge

A player at our International Academy is held to exactly the same standards as any professional. You're not here to just spend time, you're here to develop by competing.

Training at the official facilities of C.D. Leganés isn’t a luxury, it’s the only way to reach high performance. No shortcuts, no artificial environments, right in the heart of a professional club.

It's not a football school. It's a LaLiga club that brings you closer to your dream of becoming a professional player.

BE A Lega

The locker room shapes players.

Before tactics and data comes the human factor. Here, international talent doesn't find an isolated group, but an actual locker room that welcomes them and brings them in from day one.

BELONGING

Strong bonds, trust, and unity. Together we are stronger.

IDENTITY

Who we are and what we stand for. A clear identity gives direction, pride, and confidence.

VALUES

We do the right thing for the right reasons. Values guide everything we do.

TRAIN TO THRIVE

A system that develops better players, better people, and prepares for life.

It's the standard used to correct a player when they make a mistake. It's not a motto hung on the locker room wall.

Pillar 01 · Game model

Five phases. A process of working together.

At C.D. Leganés, the CDL Method teaches you to read the game in real time: The player learns to make decisions based on the ball, the context, and the demands of each moment. Here, learning is continuous and dynamic, just like actual competition.

05
SET PIECE

The CDL Method defines the exact actions for each area of the field —from the ball output to the final third— giving the player the tactical framework they need to fully develop all their creative talent with judgment.

Pillar 02 · Individual Work

The team has a plan for you.

At our International Academy, development is individualized: Each role has its own work, its own metrics, and its own specific path to the elite.

Goals by position

WHAT'S ASKED OF YOU

Each player gets specific objectives for their position, in addition to the team work.

  • Objectives defined by demarcation
  • Individual work during the session
  • Follow-up throughout the stay

Progression

WE KNOW YOU'RE GETTING BETTER

With data, not impressions. The GPS and the video record every session.

  • Load record in each workout
  • Video analysis of sessions and matches
  • Individual Progress Report

Pillar 03 · Train to thrive

4 or 5 sessions. Video and gym included.

The video session and the gym session aren't extras that are charged separately: They're part of the work week, just like in any professional team.

4 - 5

WEEKLY SESSIONS

With a day of rest. The distribution is set by each week's microcycle.

1

VIDEO SESSION

Within the weekly sessions. Seeing what you did is part of training.

1

GYM SESSION

Within the program, not as an additional service.

3 + 1

UNDER 16 YEARS OLD

They join the club's youth teams and follow the schedule for their category.

The schedule varies depending on the category, the program, and the club's events, including regular friendly matches against Spanish teams. The final timetable is given upon arrival.

Pillar 04 · DATA CONTROL

You leave with certainties, not assumptions.

Everything that happens on the field is recorded. An opinion about a player that isn’t backed by data isn’t useful for making career decisions.

GPS Tracking
Each session is recorded with GPS devices:  The same control that's applied in professional soccer.

VIDEO VEO
Automatic recording camera in the sessions and matches. What gets corrected, can be seen.

Eyeball Analysis
Technical-tactical analysis platform. Turns hours of video into concrete insights about your decisions.

The principles of the Lega

Our habits. Our standard. Our identity.

HARD WORK

Keep the standard high. Champions show up with the right mindset even on days they don't feel like it

PATIENCE

Trust the process, not the shortcuts. Believe in the work, and the results will come.

CERTIFICATE

What turns the ordinary into excellence.

SELF-DISCIPLINE

Do it right when no one is watching. Your habit in the dark is your performance under the spotlight.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Optimistic. Willing to learn. Hungry.

CONCENTRATION

Control your emotions. Let football do the talking.

HUMILITY

"Never be too big to do small things."

Your greatness is earned daily: by learning, serving, and improving.

EXCELLENCE

"Being good isn't enough. It's about being great."

Prepare harder than anyone. Turn your vision into daily action.

RESPECT

"No stars or egos: the team comes first."

Respect yourself, your teammates, the game, and the badge on your chest.

THE PROOF

How does this look on a player.

Khaled Al-Lazam arrived in 2021 without an agent and without a letter of introduction. He approached a session and asked if he could train.

He trained with this method. He competed with C.D. Leganés C. Today he made his debut in the Saudi Pro League after a transfer with financial compensation.
