C.D. Leganés head coach Rubén Albés appeared at a press conference on Friday ahead of the team’s match against Real Oviedo on Saturday (5:00 p.m.) at Carlos Tartiere Stadium, as part of the second matchday of LALIGA HYPERMOTION 2026/27.
The coach provided the following update ahead of the match:
Injuries: "In addition to the absences we announced last week, Unax del Cura is also out".
A draw against Girona: "It shows that we were ready to compete the other day. The season is very long, and we have to improve a lot as a team. Our only concern is to improve and grow as a team. From there, we’ll see where the standings and results take us. I have a good feeling about the match against Real Oviedo".
Day-to-day atmosphere: "The atmosphere is very good. Everyone is professional. There’s a sense of ease during this period".
A tenacious Leganés: "The team has a great mindset—both the new players and those who were already on the team. The other day, we had to dig deep in the first half, and in the second half, we played much better. We knew how to dig deep; everyone pitched in, and the response from the bench was excellent—that gives me a lot of peace of mind".
Unax: "The injured players are progressing well. In some cases, recovery won’t be immediate. As for Unax, he has a minor tear in his gluteal muscle, which will keep him out for a few weeks".
Real Oviedo: "It’ll be a different situation than in Girona. We’ll have to match their level of intensity, their physicality, and their stamina. There will be very chaotic situations on both offense and defense. We have to be smart about where we choose to attack. We’re going to play to our strengths".
A Different Week After the Point in Girona: "I continue to see a team that’s still evolving, with players taking steps forward. We have to adapt to everything. It’s a much tighter league with smaller spaces. There’s an adaptation process, and we have to try to understand the nature of the competition as soon as possible. The other day, there were as many as seven players who weren’t on the team—we’re in the midst of that adaptation process".
Growth. "Oviedo will be another test to see where we can improve as we face a different situation".
Start of the season: "I’m fully focused on us. We have situations to sort out and need to give our best performance. I accept the schedule as it’s been set for us".
