C.D. Leganés and Japan’s Cerezo Osaka have agreed to a one-season loan for 28-year-old defender Javi Hernández. The agreement with the Japanese club includes an option to buy at the end of the current season.
The defender from Jerez, who joined Leganés from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020, is embarking on a new chapter in Japan’s top soccer division. After two seasons with Leganés, he spent time on loan at both Girona F.C. and Cádiz C.F. before returning to Ontime Butarque in 2024. Last season, he went out on loan again, playing the first half of the year with Al-Arabi in Qatar and the second half with Panathinaikos in Greece.
Now, Javi Hernández will continue to gain experience in Asian soccer during the 2026–27 season. The club wishes him the best of luck in the coming months.
