C.D Leganés beat U.D Logroñés at Las Gaunas (0-1) after the sixth matchday of LaLiga SmartBank. The pepineros scored a penalty kick in the first half and managed to get the win.
José Luis Martí made five changes from the beginning compared to the team that faced Girona F.C: Omeruo replaced Ignasi Miquel as a central defender, Javi Hernández made his debut in the left back replacing Lasure, Gaku Shibasaki replaced Rubén Pardo in the midfield, and Dani Ojeda and Santos started in the forward replacing Avilés and Sabin Merino.
C.D Leganés fought for the goal from the beginning: at the 5’ Tarín had the first chance after a free kick but Yari managed to stop it. The locals tried to take the lead in the following minutes. Tarín had another occasion in the 23’ for the white and blues.
Borja Bastón scored a penalty kick
C.D Leganés took the lead in the match in the 30th. The referee called a penalty kick after a review from VAR. Borja Bastón scored the penalty kick after the handball by Andy. It was 0-1 and the first goal for Borja as a pepinero.
U.D Logroñés tried to react with a shoot by Ruiz that Olaetxea sent wide. However, C.D Leganés was solid and did not concede more options for their rivals. The first half ended with a partial 0-1 win for Leganés.
Arnaiz had a chance at the beginning of the second half
José Luis Martí’s team started the second half looking for the second goal and Arnaiz had it in the 49’ but Yari stopped it. Santos had another chance by the 60’ but could not shoot the ball.
C.D Leganés made its first substitution in the 63’: Sabin Merino replaced Borja Bastón. The pepineros remained solid and kept the order. However, the riojanos had the chance to score in the 72’ after a header by Andy that Cuéllar saved.
Defensive order and a great Intervention by Cuéllar to get the three points
José Luis Martí sent Luis Perea and Eraso to replace Dani Ojeda and Santos to seek more control in the midfield. Sabin had another occasion to score the 0-2. Bustinza and Rubén Pardo got into the pitch in the 85th minute replacing Shibasaki and Arnaiz. Omeruo saved the team after Siddiki’s shoot by the end.
C.D Leganés got its first win away and the third of the season and has now nine points in the table. Its next match will be on Thursday against Real Zaragoza at Butarque (16:30h).
