C.D Leganés won against Real Zaragoza at Estadio Municipal Butarque (1-0) for the seventh matchday of LaLiga SmartBank. An amazing goal by José Arnaiz in the second half was enough for the pepineros to take the three points.
The pepineros’ manager José Luis Martí repeated the starting line-up that played against U.D Logroñés last Saturday at Las Gaunas. The only news about the squad was Kevin Bua who was part of the players at the bench for the first time since his arrival.
Santos had the best occasions in the first half
C.D Leganés started playing to score the first goal and had the first two occasions on the first three minutes of the match through Arnaiz and Borja Bastón. The possession got equal with the minutes, however Michael Santos was close to score in the 20’ but his shoot went up.
The pepineros controlled Real Zaragoza in the first half allowing few options for the maños. Michael Santos had another clear option to score before the break, but his left-footed shoot was stopped by Cristian Álvarez. It was a 0-0 after the first half.
An amazing goal by Arnaiz and a solid defense helped to secure the three points
The pepineros continued with high intensity looking up for the goal. Almost three occasions in the first five minutes through Dani Ojeda, Javi Hernández and Ojeda again, all of them stopped by Cristian Álvarez. The maños started attacking through Vuckic but Cuéllar manage to stop it.
The goal arrived in the 58’. A rebound after a corner by Gaku found Arnaiz who kicked the ball from outside the area and scored an amazing goal that was impossible to stop for Cristian Álvarez. It is the first goal for the midfielder with the white and blue jersey. Arnaiz had to leave the pitch some minutes later because of some physical difficulties and was replaced by Eraso. Rubén Pardo and Sabin Merino had already been sent to the pitch replacing Dani Ojeda and Santos.
Real Zaragoza fought to tie the match and had an important occasion in the 73’ after a free kic that went up. José Luis Martí sent Bustinza and Luis Perea at the end of the match looking to strengthen the defensive scheme. C.D Leganés did not concede many options to its rivals and managed to secure the three points and its second consecutive win. The white and blues have now 12 pints and will play their next match at Butarque against Real Oviedo on Sunday (18:30h).
