C.D. Leganés reached an agreement on Tuesday with Borja Jiménez for the coach from Avila to take charge of the team next season 2023/24. The 38-year-old arrives at Butarque with two promotions behind him after having achieved them with C.D. Mirandés and F.C. Cartagena.
Born in Ávila, Borja Jiménez began his career on the bench at Real Ávila in the 2013/14 season, managing to qualify for the play-off for promotion to Segunda División 'B'. After spending time at Real Valladolid 'B' in the 2015/16 campaign, he took charge of Izarra and Rápido de Bouzas, with an outstanding role in the bronze category, before arriving in 2018 at C.D. Mirandés.
Experience despite his youth, with promotions with C.D. Mirandés and F.C. Cartagena.
With those of Anduva he would complete a great season, achieving promotion to LaLiga SmartBank in the play-off with a rojillo team in which also played one of the current captains pepineros, Sergio González, in addition to winning the RFEF Cup for the first time in the history of Mirandés. In 2019 he would sign for Asteras Tripolis of the Greek Super League, and later for F.C. Cartagena, achieving a new promotion to the silver category in 2020.
With the Albinegros he would make his debut in LaLiga SmartBank, while in the summer of 2021 he would take charge of R.C. Deportivo de La Coruña, a team he managed in 49 games, achieving the best points per game average at the club in the 21st century and falling just short of his third promotion in the dugouts.
Borja Jiménez will be presented this Wednesday, June 7, as the new coach of C.D. Leganés at 11:00 a.m. at the Butarque Sports Facility, becoming the pepinero coach for the 2023/24 season. Welcome, Borja!
