Borja Jiménez: “We are still alive, we have to try until the last second and score 40 points”

El entrenador del C.D. Leganés compareció tras el encuentro disputado en el Estadio de Gran Canaria.

C.D. Leganés' coach, Borja Jiménez, held a press conference this Sunday after the match against U.D. Las Palmas at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, corresponding to the thirty-seventh round of LALIGA EA SPORTS, which ended with a 0-1 victory.

The coach stated that they leave “happy to be able to win. We had hoped that one more result would favor us so that there would be a fight with more people, but we have done our job, we have 37 points and we have to win on Sunday and hope that Espanyol does not manage to win. What is in our hands is to reach 40 points, which normally gives us to be saved, but this year it looks like it will be more expensive”.

The man from Ávila empathizes “a lot with the situation of Las Palmas because we could be in the same situation in seven days. I am convinced that they will try to win to dignify the profession, as they have done today. There will be moments in the match when we will have our chances. We have to score, let the minutes go by and let the other result happen”.

Regarding the match, Borja believes that “it was a very stressful and bad match for the spectator. With a lot of tension, inaccuracies... The mood influences a lot, you have the pressure and the obligation to win. We did our homework, but when you leave it open it's always complicated”.

Finally, he stated that “in these games it is very important to get ahead. You have to play with the mental aspect. After the goal, I don't think we played a good game, but we defended well and kept a clean sheet. We are still alive, we have to try until the last second and score 40 points. We are very confident that with those 40 points we can save ourselves”.
