C.D. Leganés beat Rayo Majadahonda in the match played on Thursday at the Butarque Sports Facility in front of more than 400 season ticket holders. Asier Garitano's side netted early on, with a ball from Javi Rubio down the right to the byline that was crossed for Sabin Merino, who was fortunate to get on the end of it only 8 minutes into the game.
The second goal came soon after in the 15th minute for los blanquiazules, when Sabin Merino won the ball back in the midfield to slide a deep pass to Juan Muñoz, who marked his first goal of the campaign with a classy lob over the keeper.
But it wasn't all good; in the 23rd minute, Rubén Sánchez scored the first for Rayo Majadahonda, who defended to stay only a goal way from equalising throughout the rest of the game. C.D. Leganés missed the opportunity to double their lead after Rayo Majadahonda keeper Gorka Giralt closed down a one-on-one with Diego García.
Garitano reshuffled the team in the 63rd minute with Víctores (P), Palencia, Rodri Tarín, Omeruo, Javi Hernández, Álex, Gaku, Doukouré, Eraso, Naim and Marc coming on, but Palencia was withdrawn in the 71st minute, just 8 minutes after coming on, suffering from a blow to his knee and was replaced by Alda.
Referee Sergio Pérez Muley presided over the game, blowing the final whistle to seal the Club's first preseason victory with a hard fought 2-1 result in favour of the home side.
