C.D Leganés reached the second win of the season after defeating F.C Cartagena (3-1)

C.D Leganés reached their second win of the season after defeating F.C Cartagena (3-1) at Butarque. Rosales and Sabin Merino (twice) scored the goals for the pepineros during the first half. Rubén Castro scored the only goal for the visitors in the second half.

The pepineros’ manager made three changes in the starting line-up compared to the XI that played against Lugo from the beginning: Omeruo replaced Sergio Gonzalez in the back, Lasure made his debut in the left wing replacing Javi Rubio and Borja Bastón played his first match as a starter replacing Gaku Shibasaki.

Great first half with goals by Rosales and Sabin Merino (X2)

Leganés started playing with rhythm and will but the first occasion was for F.C Cartagena in the 8’ when Clavería took a free kick that Diego Conde saved. Borja Bastón tried in the 16’ with no luck of reaching the goal.

The first goal of the match arrived in the 23’. Rosales passed the ball with Borja Bastón who assisted him to kick the ball from the outside and score a beautiful goal that went through the corner of the goal.

Half an hour later C.D Leganés increased their lead. Avilés with a quick attack from the wing crossed the ball to Sabin Merino who shoot the ball with a volley that was impossible to save for the visitors’ keeper. Sabin scored the third for the pepineros later in the 41st after using a divided ball in the area and crossed the ball to put it into the goal.

Borja Bastón almost scored the fourth before half-time but unfortunately the ball hit the post. It was the end of the first forty five minutes.

Rubén Castro shortened the distances in the second half

José Luis Martí made a substitution after the first half sending Javi Eraso to the pitch to replace Luis Perea who received a yellow card. F.C Cartagena made a triple substitution to try to get back into the match. The visitors scored in the 49’ their only goal of the match. Rubén Castro kicked the ball after a cross that allow Cartagena to shorten the distances.

Gaku Shibasaki and José Arnaiz jumped into the pitch after an hour replacing Avilés and Juan Muñoz. Ten minutes later Ignasi Miquel made his debut with the white and blue jersey replacing Rosales who had some physical difficulties. Rodri Tarín started playing in the right wing. The last substitution for the pepineros arrived in the 78’ when Sabin Merino was replaced by Michael Santos.

C.D Leganés managed to control the match until the end of it and secured the three points at home. The pepineros have six points on the table and will face C.D Castellón next Sunday (18:15h) at Nuevo Castalia.
