C.D. Leganés reinforce their goalkeeping

C.D. Leganés and Celta Vigo have agreed on the loan of 24-year-old goalkeeper Iván Villar Martínez for one season. Villar, who has just returned from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after winning the silver medal with the Spanish national team, will defend pepinero net during the 2021/22 season.

Iván Villar, who started out in the academy system at R.C. Celta de Vigo, made his debut in the First Division on the 37th matchday of the 2016/17 season against Deportivo Alavés, being at that time the second youngest goalkeeper to make his debut with Celta in the top flight (19 years and 10 months). During the 2017/18 season he was loaned to Levante and then returned to Vigo, where he continued to defend the Celta goal for three more seasons.

First Division experience and silver medal at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo.

During the 2020/21 season, the goalkeeper from Aldana played twenty-three games with the first team of Celta, establishing himself as the starting goalkeeper for most of the season, with his hard work rewarded with the call-up for the Olympic Games. Villar has also been an international with the Spanish national team at various levels and recently played in the Tokyo Games, where Spain won silver in the final against Brazil.

The new blanquiazul goalkeeper will wear the number '1', he will immediately start training with Garitano's squad and his presentation is due to take place next week.
