C.D. Leganés revives the spirit of the Tartiere and wins in Oviedo (1-3)

C.D. Leganés beat Real Oviedo at the NMR Carlos Tartiere (1-3) in the twenty-ninth LaLiga SmartBank matchday. Javi Hernández, with a brace, and Kevin Bua scored the goals for the Pepinero team, while Tejera, from the penalty spot, scored for the carbayones.

Asier Garitano made four changes to the starting lineup compared to the last match: Ignasi Miquel, Javi Hernández, Rubén Pérez and Borja Bastón took the places of Jonathan Silva, Luis Perea, Róber Ibáñez and Miguel de la Fuente. The Pepineros had three central defenders and two wingers instead of the defense of four of the last few days.

Javi Hernández gave Leganés the lead in minute 12 after a great personal move.

The match started evenly and without great approaches to the areas, but C.D. Leganés took the lead with their first shot. Pardo combined in the left sector with Javi Hernández, who went past two defenders in a personal slalom and shot with his left foot, with the fortune that the deflection off Bolaño's leg made Femenías' save impossible. It was the 0-1 and the second goal of the player from Jerez this season.
In minute 23, C.D. Leganés was about to score the second: Arnaiz combined with Borja Bastón, who tried a lob over Femenías, but Femenías deflected it to a corner. In minute 27, Javi Hernández had another chance from Palencia's cross, but couldn't find a finisher. Earlier, Tejera had had the first shot with danger for the locals. The score was 0-1 at halftime.

Javi Hernández's brace and Tejera shortened the gap after a VAR penalty.

The second half began with Leganés looking for the second. A high header by Sergio González was the prelude to the 0-2: Palencia stole on the right and crossed to the back line, put it into the area and Arnaiz's missed shot became an assist for Javi Hernández, who made it 0-2 by pushing the ball. Third goal in LaLiga and first brace for the '28' pepinero.
However, the locals didn't give up and, after a corner kick, Arcediano Monescillo decreed a penalty for a handball by Sergio González, which Tejera was in charge of converting in minute 52 to make it 1-2. On the hour mark, Asier Garitano made his first substitution, bringing on Kevin Bua in place of José Arnaiz.

Kevin Bua sentenced in extra time.

In 73', Real Oviedo were down a player after Bolaño was sent off for a double caution. Then, Miguel de la Fuente replaced an injured Borja Bastón up front. Leganés were on the verge of scoring the third in minute 85, with Miguel's run that Palencia narrowly missed. However, the home team's attack almost meant the equalizer, with a shot from a corner kick that crashed against the crossbar.
Asier Garitano sought to close the match with the introduction of Róber Ibáñez and Luis Perea in the extension, and the sentence was to end up arriving. Kevin Bua collected a ball on the left side of the area and his right-footed shot to the near post was impossible for Femenías: the third goal of the Swiss in this League that meant the sentence of the match.
The victory leaves C.D. Leganés with 53 points in the table in fourth position, and their next match will be on Saturday, March 20 (8:30 p.m.) at Butarque against C.F. Fuenlabrada.
