C.D. Leganés play host to S.D. Ponferradina at the Estadio Municipal Butarque in their next match; a team which, so far, has been unable to conquer the Pepinero ground. In the six preceding matches, Leganés collected three wins while the other half finished tied , including last year's fixture.
Leganés and Ponferradina first clashed on the pitch in the 1990s during their Segunda División 'B' campaings in 1990 and 1992. An emphatic first encounter, the score finished 4-1 in favour of the Pepineros, with a Soler hat trick and Miguel goal that started their comeback to the visitors' goal. In the following season, the 1990/1 Municipal match ended goalless (0-0), with Luis Ángel Duque's men fighting out a win from Enrique's brace (2-1).
The two would not meet again until the 2014/5 Segunda División season, with an undramatic (1-1) draw between the Pepineros and Bercianos, with Álvaro Garcia scoring the lone goal for the home side. Asier Garitano led the Blanquiazul to victory the following season however, delivering a (3-0) win thanks to Rubén Peña's brace and Omar Ramos' finishing. Finally, the most recent game concluded evenly (1-1) with the centre back Sergio González scoring the only one for Leganés.
