C.D. Leganés will welcome S.D. Ponferradina to Butarque this Monday (7:00 p.m.), an opponent that, so far, has not managed to win on Pepinero's ground. In the five previous matches, the pepineros have won three of them, while the other two ended in draws.
Leganés and Ponferradina did not meet in direct duels until the nineties, when both played in Second Division 'B' and faced each other in three seasons between 1990 and 1992. The first clash ended with a 4-1 win for the Pepineros at the Municipal, thanks to a hat-trick by Luis Soler and another goal by Miguel Pérez to come back from the visitors' opening goal.
3-0 win in the last meeting at Butarque
In the following season, 1990/91, the match ended in a goalless draw (0-0), while in 1992/93 Luis Ángel Duque's side won 2-1 in their first home match of the season thanks to a brace from Enrique, the second and final goal coming in stoppage time.
The other two precedents are more recent and were played with both teams in the Second Division. In the 2014/15 campaign, pepineros and bercianos drew at Butarque (1-1) with penalty goals from Pablo Infante and Álvaro García, while in 2015/16, when Leganés were promoted to the First Division, Asier Garitano's men won 3-0 with a goal from Omar Ramos and a brace from Rubén Peña.
