CD Leganés have agreed the loan of Xavi Quintillà, with an option to buy, from CF Villarreal. The 25 year old left back returns to Spain from his loan spell at Norwich City to don the blue and white jersey for the upcoming 2021/22 season.
Born in Lleida in 1994, Quintillà arrived at La Masia in 2009 to join the ranks of their 'A' youth team. From 2012 to 2016, he played at the back for Barcelona 'B' before returning to his hometown club LLeida Esportiu at 20 years old.
In 2017, the left back signed for Villarreal and spent two years with their second team before making his first team debut in 2019 at Celta Vigo's Estadio de Balaídos. The same year he marked his first game in the Europa League in Villarreal's quarter final against Valencia. In 23 games of Spanish football, he played 19 in La Liga Santander and 4 in the Copa del Rey.
Quintillà arrives at CD Leganés off the back of a campaign that saw Norwich gain promotion back into Premier League football. He joins his new teammates in training on Monday with the date of his unveiling to be announced soon.
