C.D. Leganés and forward Diego García Campos have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract until June 30, 2028. The academy graduate will thus remain tied to the club for the next three seasons.
Diego, 25, joined Leganés 'B' in 2020 from Rayo Vallecano 'B', and since then he has progressed year by year to become an indispensable part of the first team. After making his debut with the first team in May 2021 in LALIGA HYPERMOTION and playing several more matches thanks to his outstanding performances with the reserve team, he was loaned to C.F. Fuenlabrada, where he shone in the Primera Federación during the 2022/23 season.
Upon his return to the blanquiazul discipline, he established himself as a member of the first-team squad during the promotion season to LALIGA EA SPORTS, playing every match and scoring twelve goals. Last season, he made his debut in the top division, playing 32 official matches and scoring four goals, including the unforgettable bicycle kick that secured the team's victory in the #HistoricDerby against Getafe C.F.
With his contract extension, Leganés ensures, for at least three more seasons, the commitment, pepinero spirit, and goals of Diego García, who will continue wearing the blanquiazul jersey until 2028.
