C.D. Leganés reached an agreement on Monday with S.C. Cambuur for the signing of Belgian winger Benjamin Pauwels, 20 years old, for the next four seasons. The Belgian U21 international reinforces the attacking side of our team, signing until 2029.
Pauwels is a right winger who usually plays on the left side of the attack, but can also adapt to the right wing. His qualities include his dribbling, speed and ability to dribble down the flank to finish or assist his teammates. Trained in the youth ranks of Ghent, in 2023 he signed for Beerschot, with whom he was promoted to the Belgian First Division.
Youthful, fresh and with a bright, free-flowing style, he has already made his debut for Belgium's Under-21s.
Last summer, Pauwels attracted the interest of several European clubs, signing for Dutch side Cambuur. He had a great season with the Dutch side, making 37 official appearances, scoring four goals and providing eight assists to help his team reach the Eredivisie promotion playoff.
His outstanding performances last term saw him make his debut for the Belgium U21s, playing his first game in March and scoring the winning goal in a friendly against Sweden. At the age of twenty, Pauwels takes a new leap in his career, landing at Butarque to make his debut in LALIGA.
The young Belgian talent trained for the first time with his new teammates on Monday, will wear the number “18” and the date of his presentation will be confirmed in the coming days.
