Over 80 young footballers from six African nations took part in official U19 and U23 trials organized in collaboration with Elite IFM and The Football Unión SA, resulting in the selection of two players who will continue their development in Madrid.
C.D. Leganés proudly announces the success of its most recent international scouting event held in Cape Town, South Africa, in collaboration with Elite International Football Management (Elite IFM), led by Daniel Infante and The Football Unión SA, headed by David Ribeiro.
The event brought together more than 80 players from across the African continent, including South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, who traveled to Cape Town to seize a unique opportunity to showcase their talent in front of international coaches and scouts.
The program focused on official U19 and U23 tryouts, where players were evaluated under professional standards with the goal of identifying those with the greatest potential and projection for European football.
Following the final assessment, two players —one from South Africa and one from Ghana— were selected to continue their development in Madrid, where they will join C.D. Leganés teams and experience a high-performance environment within the club’s professional structure.
This initiative marked the second visit of C.D. Leganés to South Africa in 2025, following an earlier edition held in Johannesburg. The project further strengthens the club’s strategic collaboration with Elite IFM and The Football Unión SA, reinforcing the sporting bridge between Africa and Europe and bringing Spanish professional football closer to new regions full of talent.
C.D. Leganés thus reaffirms its commitment to international youth development, promoting values of hard work, discipline, and perseverance while supporting the growth of future generations of footballers around the world.
