C.D. Leganés reached an agreement on Thursday with 25-year-old center back Aritz Arambarri Murua to join the team for the next two seasons. The defender from Guipuzcoa arrives from Real Sociedad.
Arambarri is a center back with a large wingspan thanks to his 1'86 height, who stands out for his ball handling and concentration in marking. Raised in the Zubieta youth academy from infants, category in which he entered at the age of eleven, he passed through all the lower categories of the txuri-urdin grassroots until debuting with the subsidiary in Second Division 'B' in August 2017.
In the 2018/19 season he became a definitive part of Real Sociedad B, being called up by the first team on several occasions in the subsequent campaign. The 2020/21 was the season of his debut with Real Sociedad, debuting in LaLiga Santander in November 2020 in Balaídos against R.C. Celta. That same year he would end up achieving promotion to LaLiga SmartBank with the Donostia-San Sebastian reserve team, captaining the team from the back.
Despite his youth, he has a great deal of experience, having made his debut in the First Division and in European competitions.
Arambarri continued to make progress, and in the 2021/22 season he played his first matches in the Second Division. He would finish the season with nearly 2,000 minutes under his belt in twenty-four matches, including the two that Sanse played against Leganés. In the recently completed season he made his debut in European competitions with Real Sociedad, playing three matches in the UEFA Europa League. In addition, he was indisputable in Sanse with 37 games played and playing in the promotion play-off.
The Basque defender will be under the orders of Borja Jiménez on July 3, when the team will begin the physical tests prior to the start of the preseason, and his presentation date will be communicated soon. Welcome, Aritz!
