Four C.D. Leganés players have been called up by their respective national teams for the international matches taking place in June. Kenneth Omeruo, Gaku Shibasaki, Seydouba Cissé and Yoel Bárcenas will play against Nigeria, Japan, Guinea and Panama, respectively.
The main novelty in this selection window could be the debut of Cissé with Guinea. The 21-year-old could make his senior international debut at the age of 21 after a season in which he made his professional debut in LaLiga SmartBank. The Guineans will play the first two matchdays of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt (Sunday 5, 21:00) and Malawi (Thursday 9, 21:00).
The same qualifiers are kicked off by Kenneth Omeruo's Nigeria. The Green Eagles open their group on Thursday 9 against Sierra Leone (18:00), while they visit Mauritius on Monday 13 (15:00).
The Japan national team will play four matches in preparation for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. The Japanese, with Gaku Shibasaki in their ranks, will play two matches in the Kirin Challenge Cup on Thursday 2 against Paraguay (12:00) and Monday 6 against Brazil (12:00), and other clashes in the Kirin Cup Soccer 2022 against Ghana on Friday 10 and Chile on Tuesday 14.
Finally, Panama, with Yoel Bárcenas in the squad, will start the CONCACAF Nations League with three matches against Costa Rica (early Thursday 2 to Friday 3, 1:30 am) and Martinique (early Thursday 9 to Friday 10, 2:00 am and early Sunday 12 to Monday 13, 0:00 am).
