Nati Flores, C.D Leganés womens team’s captain evaluated the season that just ended after the competition suspension. The pepineras’ goalkeeper is pleased with the achievement but would like to have finished the season on the pitch.
Leganés’ goalkeeper analyzed the promotion of the team: “We have a mix of feelings because we have achieved what we were looking for during the season. I think that the team effort has been incredible, we knew our objective and worked with everything that our coaching staff provided for us. Each training and match were a test for us, and we needed to maintain a good level. It needed to end the way it did, but we had much more to leave on the pitch. We wanted to continue fighting and showing our football and are feeling powerless given the circumstances”.
“It doesn’t taste the same at all, we wanted to continue with the league”
Nati believes that is not the same to achieve promotion the way they did compared to have done it on the pitch: “It doesn’t taste the same at all, we wanted to continue with the league. As I said before, we were working well and were excited with our performance on the league. Next year we will fight again on preferente category and compete in the way we are used to. This does not end up here, we want more and will look after our objectives”, expressed.
The White and blues’ keeper analyzed the keys to success of the team: “I am sure that everyone involved with the team had pretty clear the objectives and how to work to achieve them. We knew that we needed to fight on each training session and match because all of them were equally important. The intensity and rythm we put anywhere was top and the team managed to raise the level”.
“The best moment of the season was the day we played at Butarque”
The team’s captain had no doubt about which was the season’s highlight: “The match that we played at Butarque for Villa de Leganés Tournament. We did not expect to be welcomed by so many people. I will never stop to thank all the people that came to the pitch to see and support us. Having the chance to play on a first division pitch is something that you dream of. If I have to choose something it would be the fact that we got were united: that week we had our first league’s match and we needed to be together as one”.
“From that day, Butarque allowed us all to dream together and unite after seeing the stands full cheering up for us and being together after the victory, just as if we have won a league. It may sound crazy, but I think that Butarque gave us luck and the celebration that we could not have right now. Our people have seen us already with a trophy and I am sure that it was a sign that something good was coming for us”.
“This team wants more and looks forward to put Leganés on the top”
Finally, Nati talked about team’s future: “Right now what I hope is to be able to play again and being able to play again with my teammates at Jesús Polo’s pitch with the company of our loved ones (by the way I would like to thank them, they are our biggest support and we will always need them) and wait for the kick-off”.
“We will be back to fight on every match no matter the category we are playing on. This team wants more and next season we will give our best to show what we are capable of on preferente category. We look forward to put Leganés on the top”.
