Rubén Peña: “I am in debt with Leganés, and what less than giving everything for this shirt”.

The winger from Avila was presented as a new C.D. Leganés player for the next two seasons.

C.D. Leganés presented this Friday the right-back Rubén Peña as the new player of the Pepineros. The player from Ávila, who returns to Butarque nine years after his first season as a Blue and Whites' player, was enthusiastic about returning home and grateful for the welcome.

Andrés Pardo, football director of C.D. Leganés, welcomed the player during the presentation, highlighting that: "We are very excited because we are incorporating a player of great level and, above all, of great commitment. His career speaks of the passion with which he lives this profession".

Rubén Peña: “When you are happy in a place and they need you, it's the right time to return home”

Peña returns to Butarque with the same enthusiasm as when he made his debut with the Blue and Whites: “The boy who wore the shirt that day has come with the same enthusiasm or more,” he said. The player wanted to thank the club for the confidence placed in him and acknowledged that he had been waiting for this moment for a long time: "I always wanted this day to come. When you are happy in a place and they need you, it is the right time to return home".

Throughout his appearance, Peña showed ambition and commitment, two of his hallmarks: "I have a lot of ambition. That illusion I had years ago has not disappeared, on the contrary, with experience it is growing. The only thing I'm thinking about now is to enjoy the road and the day-to-day, and we're going to do it. I know that the team has the same enthusiasm and ambition".

The new player also expressed his gratitude for the speed with which his incorporation was completed, which he interpreted as a clear sign of the club's commitment: "I am very grateful. When everything is done so quickly it's because they bet on you. I'm not impulsive, I like to think things through. I like to be in places where I feel I do well and where they want me to be".

Peña, who experienced the historic promotion to Primera in 2016 with Leganés, does not forget his roots or what his previous spell at the club meant: "I think I am indebted to all the Pepineros since I left after the promotion. I left very saddened. I am very happy, with an incredible desire to return all the affection I am receiving".

Rubén Peña: "I don't think I'm a captain. I have come to do my bit"

On what he expects from the season, he was clear: "We have to respect the category. The second division is very tough. From the first day we have to go out to bite. We don't want anyone to take away our points. Not everything will be pretty, but there is illusion, and that illusion is contagious".

Peña did not want to talk about protagonism: "I don't think I'm captain. I have come to do my bit and to train like everyone else, to deserve to be on the field and to add up".

About the club, he only had words of admiration for its evolution in recent years: "I remember the interviews we used to do in front of the graffiti in the back stand. The club has grown a lot. I was telling Andrés that it's incredible how the sports city and everything around the team is growing".

Finally, he left a clear message for the fans: "I try to be myself. I am not a person who tries to please everyone, but I am very grateful. I give my all for the club that trusts me. What a minimum to give everything after they bet on you. What can never fail is the attitude. That's the least you're going to find from me".

Rubén Peña returns home with the challenge of returning Leganés to the place it deserves, and with a direct and forceful message: “I'm here to give my all”.
