C.D. Leganés head coach Igor Oca appeared in a press conference following the match played this Monday against S.D. Huesca at the Ontime Butarque Stadium, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Basque coach assessed what happened during the encounter as follows:
Match assessment: "Winning is very difficult. They had two chances, but we had Juan's, Naim's, Óscar's, the disallowed goal... We went for the match, but their back five and their time-wasting allowed them to manage it well. We were very close to achieving our goal; we maintain the distance and we will have to keep pushing to get it done in Cádiz."
Lack of goals: "It’s obvious. We place a lot of importance on it in training, and sometimes it’s not just the finishing, but something further back. We generate chances, but we are missing that final touch. The reality is that we will have to keep working until the very last day to make a difference. We do the hardest part, but we lack that final arrival, that cross from the wing. There is no doubt we have to keep working."
Importance of the point: "If there was a team that wanted it, we showed it was us. They caused us some danger on transitions, which shows that up until the last minute we were fighting to win. We value every step, we maintain the distance with those behind us, and it brings us one point closer to our objective. We need to stay calm to make the best decisions and try to seal it this Sunday in Cádiz."
Three center-backs: "We could do it due to the players' characteristics, but we repeated a back four with Lalo at full-back. On the ball, we played out with three, with Peña as a winger."
The fans: "Today we drew because of the players' disposition and because of the fans. They are helping us; they have to feel part of this because it would have been much more difficult without them. Thanks also to the club for supporting us alongside the players from the Academy and the Foundation; it shows how united we are and how much we need it. There was also an internal matter with the players that made us compete better, even if we got one point instead of three."
Cissé and Duk on the bench: "It was a match-plan situation. We believed Peña was training well and could give us freshness on the wing. We wanted to be tight defensively in the center, and we knew Dani has that ability to arrive from deep. It was a purely tactical decision."
Demerits of other teams: "That is the reality of the competition. We have to live with it, and it’s tough for everyone. Whoever has stepped up even a little bit can breathe a bit easier. That’s why the point is also important, to maintain that margin. A little over three months ago we were in the relegation zone, and now we are +6 with two matchdays left. It’s not exactly what we want, but it’s the reality, and we have the opportunity to seal it this Sunday in Cádiz."
