C.D. Leganés signs Álvaro Morata to bolster its offense 

C.D. Leganés has reached an agreement with Como 1907 for the one-season loan of 33-year-old forward Álvaro Borja Morata Martín. The Spanish international, who captained the national team during Spain’s victory at Euro 2024, will play on loan this season for the Pepinero club, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

With more than 600 games and over 200 goals as a professional, one of the best Spanish forwards of recent decades is arriving at Ontime Butarque. With more than 20 titles to his credit, highlights include a European Championship and a Nations League title with the Spanish national team, two Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, and a Club World Cup, among others.

Morata made his professional debut in 2010 with Real Madrid, becoming a permanent member of the first team during the 2013–14 season, when he won the Copa del Rey and the Champions League—his first professional trophies. At the end of that season, he signed with Juventus, where he played for two seasons and won two Scudettos.

After returning to Real Madrid in 2016 and winning his second Champions League title, he began a new chapter with Chelsea F.C. the following year, competing in the Premier League for a season and a half. In January 2019, he returned to La Liga with Atlético Madrid, later heading back to Italy to play for Juventus on loan for two seasons.

Back at Atlético, he played two more seasons as a Rojiblanco until, in 2024, he signed with Milan. He played the first half of that season with the Rossoneri before transferring to Turkey’s Galatasaray during the winter transfer window. His most recent stint, last season, was with Como 1907, a team he helped qualify for the next edition of the Champions League.

A European champion with Spain’s U-19 and U-21 teams, Morata won the Nations League title in 2023 and the 2024 European Championship as captain of the national team. With 87 senior international appearances, the new Pepinero forward has scored 37 goals for Spain, making him the fourth-highest all-time scorer for our national team.
