Rubén Albés: “It takes a lot of credit to hold off a great team like Oviedo while down a man”

C.D. Leganés head coach Rubén Albés held a press conference following the match between the Pepineros and Real Oviedo at Carlos Tartiere Stadium, part of Matchday 2 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION 2026/27, which ended in a 0-1 victory.

The coach offered the following assessment of the match:

Match assessment and message to the players: “I don’t speak with them right after matches end, but I hugged them and congratulated them on their effort and team spirit—especially while we were down a man and during the good moments with the ball when we were even.”

A brave team: “For the first 25 minutes, even though we’re still far from it, we looked like the team I want us to be. We had some good moments and exploited their weaknesses, and defensively we won more duels. After the red card, it’s tough to hold on for 75 minutes with one man down against a team with such good pace—a great team like Real Oviedo. We switched gears and did really well. We put a lot of heart into it, the bench players contributed, and a couple of saves by Luca secured the victory for us.”
