His youth and talent caught the attention of several top-flight clubs, and he signed with Bologna in the summer of 2015. Just one year later, Napoli secured his services, and he made his Champions League debut at the age of just nineteen.

He spent three seasons with the Neapolitan club, competing in European competitions each year and making a total of 74 appearances in a Napoli jersey. In the summer of 2019, after three seasons in Naples, Diawara signed with another historic Serie A club, Roma. With the “Giallorossi,” he appeared in 58 official matches during his first two seasons, reaching the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League. In his final year with Roma, under coach José Mourinho, he helped the team win the UEFA Conference League title.

In 2022, the Guinean began a new chapter at Belgium’s Anderlecht, where he remained for two and a half seasons. During the 2025–26 season, after leaving Belgium, he played the final stretch of the campaign for C.D. Eldense, scoring two goals in the twelve matches he played for the Alicante-based club following his arrival in March.

At the international level, Diawara has been a regular for Guinea in recent years since making his senior national team debut in 2018, participating in three editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
