C.D. Leganés beat A.D. Ceuta at the Alfonso Murube (1-2) in a match corresponding to the fourteenth round of LALIGA HYPERMOTION. Rubén Peña and Diawara scored for the Pepineros, while the home side narrowed the gap in added time.
Paco López made three changes to his starting eleven from the last matchday at Anoeta, with Rubén Peña returning to the starting line-up in place of Figueredo on the right wing, Duk coming back from suspension to replace Óscar Plano, and Diego García taking the place of Álex Millán, who started this time on the bench.
The match began with a first shot from Naim for Leganés in the 5th minute, which failed to find the target after a good run by the youth player following a pass from Cissé. The second chance for the Pepineros came in the 16th minute, when Diego headed over from a good run and cross by Duk from the right. Ceuta looked to attack vertically, creating danger mainly down the left wing, but without finishing their chances against Lega's good defense.
Rubén Peña put Lega ahead in the first half, taking advantage of a rebound after Juan Cruz hit the post
Duk had a good chance in the 28th minute with a free kick near the edge of the box, but the Cape Verdean's shot was blocked by the Ceuta wall. In the 30th minute, the score became 0-1: Duk broke through on the left, Juan Cruz hit the post, and Rubén Peña came in from behind to tap it into the net and beat Guille Vallejo to score his first goal of the season and put Lega ahead.
Juan Soriano made a great save in the 37th minute against Matos to prevent Ceuta from equalizing. And in the 42nd minute, it was Vallejo who made a great save from Cissé's shot from the edge of the box to prevent Lega's second goal. The score was 0-1 in favor of Leganés at halftime.
Diawara made it 0-2 after a great play by Duk at the start of the second half.
The second half started without changes, with two good chances for Duk in the first two minutes that were blocked by the home defense inside the area, first, and then saved by Guille Vallejo after a good assist from Rubén Peña, second. Lega's good start to the second half resulted in the 0-2 in the 51st minute: once again, Duk made a great run down the left, crossed into the area, and Diawara came in from behind to finish first time and score his second consecutive goal.
Leganés tried to take advantage of the positive momentum and the spaces left by Ceuta to continue pushing forward, as in the 60th minute with a low shot from Naim that Vallejo caught low. In the 63rd minute, Paco López made his first change, bringing on Óscar Plano in place of Diego García to freshen up the attack and leave Duk as the most advanced player. In the 70th minute, Ceuta had their best chance of the second half, with a header from Carlos Hernández from a corner that went just wide of the post.
Ceuta narrowed the gap in added time, but it was not enough to prevent Leganés from winning
Leganés looked solid in their lead, organized and not conceding at the back, looking to break out into space. In the 81st minute, Paco López made a double substitution, bringing on Figueredo and Ignasi Miquel in place of Duk and Marvel, leaving Óscar Plano as a false nine. In the final stages, Guirao and Álex Millán came on for Rubén Peña and Juan Cruz to maintain the lead, which was reduced in added time thanks to a shot from Cristian that hit the post and went in after hitting Juan Soriano's back. However, Lega held on to their lead and managed to take all three points from Alfonso Murube, where Ceuta had only lost in their first game of the season.
Leganés are back to winning ways and now have 18 points in the standings, facing their next match on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) at Ontime Butarque against Almería.
