C.D. Leganés has reached an agreement with Luis Carrión for the Barcelona-born coach to become the team’s new head coach through the end of the current season. Carrión, who has extensive experience in Spanish soccer, will be introduced this Monday, October 19, at 1:30 p.m. at Ontime Butarque Stadium.
Luis Miguel Carrión Delgado, 47, played for clubs such as Barcelona “B,” Nàstic de Tarragona, Córdoba, and Deportivo Alavés. As a coach, he began his career with Córdoba’s reserve team before taking over the first team for the 2016–17 season in LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
After stints with Melilla and Numancia, he signed with Cartagena for the 2020–21 season, remaining on the Albinegro bench for two and a half seasons. In the 2023–24 season, he took over Real Oviedo, replacing Álvaro Cervera, and led the Asturian team to the final of the promotion playoffs to LALIGA EA SPORTS.
In 2024, he made his top-flight debut as head coach of U.D. Las Palmas, while his most recent stint was last season, once again with Real Oviedo—though this time in LALIGA EA SPORTS. Carrión now joins Ontime Butarque for a new chapter in his career alongside Mikel Rico, as assistant coach, and Sergio Dorado, as strength and conditioning coach, and will be introduced this Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the press room at Ontime Butarque Stadium.
Welcome to the Pepinera family, Luis!
