C.D. Leganés was unable to earn any points in its Matchday 10 LALIGA HYPERMOTION game against Córdoba C.F. (0-1). A goal by Eder García in the 83rd minute secured the three points for the Blanquiverdes.
Leganés took the field with five changes to their starting lineup from the previous matchday: Pulido, Montero, Kechta, Sancris, and Soko came into the lineup in place of Lalo, Marvel (suspended), Atienza, Dani Rodríguez, and Morata. Lega came out strong, with a couple of dangerous chances in the first five minutes of the match that Soko and Zico narrowly failed to convert.
Soko had Lega’s best chance in an evenly matched first half
In the 16th minute, the first clear chance came for the Pepineros: a good transition play with Sancris making a run down the right, and his cross to the far post was headed by Soko, but Iker Álvarez made the save. The match remained evenly matched throughout the first half, with both teams battling for control but failing to create clear-cut chances in the opponent’s box. Lega tried to break through mainly down the flanks, with Tejero and Naim making deep runs down their respective wings.
It was Naim who had a chance at the half-hour mark, on a follow-up play after a corner kick; the academy product—who was making his 100th official appearance in the blue-and-white jersey—fired his shot too far across the goal. Córdoba responded with another set-piece that Diego Bri sent wide. The final action of the first half belonged to the visitors, with a shot by Eder García that went wide. The teams went into halftime tied 0–0.
Eder García scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute
With no changes at the start of the second half, Percan forced Luca into a save in the 50th minute following a quick attack down the wing that the forward finished on the first touch. Once again, the Pepinero goalkeeper made a great save in the 57th minute on a shot by Isma Ruiz from the edge of the box. Just past the hour mark, Rubén Albés made a triple substitution, bringing on Franquesa, Dani Rodríguez, and Morata in place of Naim, Gharbi, and Soko to inject fresh energy into the team.
The more than 11,000 spectators gathered at Ontime Butarque were cheering the team on in search of the winning goal in a second half that grew increasingly tense. As the match entered its final stretch, Rubén Peña and Sule came on for Tejero and Sancris in Rubén Albés’s final substitutions. In the 83rd minute, on an isolated play, Eder García scored the goal for Córdoba, beating Luca with a right-footed shot across the goal. Leganés tried to mount a comeback in the final minutes, during which referee Eder Mallo also took center stage by sending off Álvaro Morata for a second yellow card.
Leganés remains on 11 points in the standings and will play its next match this coming Saturday (4:15 p.m.) at home against R.C.D. Mallorca.
