Win against Al-Rayyan (2-1)

C.D. Leganés defeated Al-Rayyan (2-1) in their seventh pre-season friendly. Lalo and Gharbi scored for the pepineros, while Hatim got the goal for the Qatari side.

Featuring the main addition of Patrick Soko in the starting lineup just a day after his presentation as a pepinero, Leganés took the initiative in a first half that, however, lacked frequent arrivals in the penalty box.

Utilizing the runs of Tejero and Franquesa down the wings, alongside Rubén Peña's presence inside, the pepineros created the most dangerous approaches of the opening forty-five minutes. These included a strike from Beltrán from the edge of the area on the half-hour mark and a direct free kick by Tejero from the edge of the box right before half-time that flew narrowly over the bar.

Following several changes after the restart and the debuts of academy players Herrero and Nico Lozano with the first team, Beltrán and Naim tried their luck, while Herrero came close in the 61st minute with a shot grazing the post following a corner. In the 70th minute, Leganés took the lead from a set piece: Naim delivered to the far post and Lalo headed home to make it 1-0. Shortly after, Al-Rayyan equalized through Hatim, who turned in a fine cross from Roger Guedes to level the match.

Late in the game, with up to seven reserve team players on the pitch, Leganés scored the winning goal: Tunisian international Ismaël Gharbi cut outside the box and struck an unstoppable right-footed shot past Abunada to seal the final 2-1 result.

A victory for Leganés, who will play their penultimate pre-season friendly this Friday (19:00 hours) back at the Instalación Deportiva Butarque against A.D. Mérida.
