C.D. Leganés signs the talented Ismaël Gharbi to bolster its offense

C.D. Leganés reached an agreement with Sporting de Braga for the one-season loan, with an option to buy, of 22-year-old Tunisian international Ismaël Gharbi, who arrives after competing in the World Cup with Tunisia.

Gharbi is a talented attacking player who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger on either flank. Born in Paris to a Tunisian father and a Spanish mother, he has been an international in youth categories for both France and Spain, ultimately playing for the senior national team of Tunisia, with whom he featured in all three group-stage matches during the recently concluded World Cup.

Debut with PSG and experience in Switzerland, Portugal, Germany, and European competitions

Raised in the youth system of Paris Saint-Germain from the age of twelve, Gharbi made his first-team debut in August 2021 in a French Supercup match against Lille. That same season, he played his first minutes in Ligue 1, while the following year he continued combining appearances in the youth squad with call-ups and several outings for the Parisian first team.

In the 2023/24 season, Gharbi was loaned to Lausanne, recording seven goals and six assists in his first full campaign as a professional in the Swiss Super League. In the summer of 2024, he signed for Sporting de Braga, making 35 official appearances in his first season in Portugal and debuting in European competition in the UEFA Europa League.

A full international for Tunisia, he arrives after competing in the World Cup

In this past campaign, Gharbi played on loan at Augsburg, competing in the Bundesliga with the Bavarian side, and played in both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup with Tunisia, featuring in matches against Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands—starting in that final fixture.

Now, the young talent arrives at Ontime Butarque to play this season on loan, with an option to buy, at C.D. Leganés. Gharbi joins the team's training camp in Vigo and will be presented next week as a new pepinero player.
