C.D. Leganés drew against C.D. Nacional de Madeira (0-0) in their third pre-season match. The pepineros continue to accumulate preparation workload in a clash highlighted by Álvaro Tejero's debut in blue and white.
The pepinero side played their third friendly match of the summer against an opponent competing in the top division of Portuguese football. Featuring two of the new signings for the upcoming season in the starting lineup (Raúl Fernández and Zico Buurmeester), Andrés Campos had the best chance for Rubén Albés' men in the first half, with a left-footed strike following a lay-off from Álex Millán that flew narrowly wide.
With ten changes after the restart—among which Álvaro Tejero's debut stood out after his arrival in Leganés last week—the second half was characterized by equality between both sides and scarce chances near either goal. The clearest opportunity was a strike from Roberto López from the edge of the box that crashed off the crossbar. Academy players Gueye, Beltrán, and Siame gained minutes during the match, which served to help the blue-and-whites keep accumulating load in their legs ahead of the league opener on August 16 in Girona.
Leganés will face their next friendly on Friday (11:00 hours) against F.C. Penafiel.
