C.D. Leganés returned five years later to the Carlos Tartiere, the scene of a match that gave them half promotion to the First Division in the 2015/16 season, and which this time brought the Pepineros another important three points in their fight to return to LaLiga Santander.
Almost five years had passed, but the scenario was still the same. This time, however, without the public and without the support of the hundreds of fans who, on that occasion, populated the visiting area of the Carlos Tartiere. Unai Bustinza, the only surviving member of the squad from that match, as well as Asier Garitano, Queco Piña and the rest of the coaching staff were sure to recall memories of that May 26, 2016.
Javi Hernández scored in Gabriel's goal and Arcediano Monescillo once again pointed out a penalty against.
This time, Leganés attacked in the first half in the goal where Gabriel scored the winning goal in that match. And they didn't do badly, as Javi Hernández opened the scoring early. With the 0-1 of 2016, and the goal in the same goal, it was time for the break.
But, after the 0-2, the referee Arcediano Monescillo was also going to remember that he had been the one who had refereed the match five years ago, and again pointed out a penalty against the pepineros, this time at the behest of the VAR. In the opposite goal to where Serantes had saved Susaeta's penalty, Cuellar, also in yellow, guessed Tejera's spot-kick, although he was unable to stop it this time.
Leganés struggled to hold on to the three points like that day, although this time they were able to celebrate the win a minute before the referee signaled the end thanks to Kevin Bua's third goal. A different return to the Tartiere but with the same booty: the three points that allow Leganés to keep looking at their final goal.
