C.D. Leganés' coach, Asier Garitano, appeared at a telematic press conference after the match played by the pepineros at the NMR Carlos Tartiere against Real Oviedo, corresponding to the twenty-ninth matchday of LaLiga SmartBank, and which ended with a 3-1 win for the Blue and Whites.
The coach believes that, in general terms, his team's victory was fair: "We had better and worse moments, but I think we played a good match and deserved the victory. When you win it seems that the sensations are better, but I was not dissatisfied with the previous matches. We took the lead in the first match, we controlled the game and I'm happy with the way the players reacted after the 1-2. Away from home we have to improve, we needed to be more forceful and make fewer mistakes," he said.
"Our objective is to try to cut points from those at the top and we are on that path."
Asier confirmed that the changes were due to fatigue and that they are not worrisome discomfort, and believes that they continue with their objective match by match: "Our goal is to try to cut points to those who are still at the top and we are on that path. Sometimes it will cost us, because we are talking about three very strong teams, but we will try until the end. We know that we have to improve and that those options will also depend on the away games, where we have to continue to improve".
Garitano analyzed the change of formation for this match ("this squad allows us to use different patterns and today we thought it was the best way to counteract what Oviedo has"), and praised Javi Hernández's performance: "Scoring goals is not just a task for the attacking players. Javi has good ball handling, has pace, physicality, is able to play well and, if he scores goals like today, that's great", he concluded.
