Borja Jiménez: “We are very much alive and the team continues to believe”

The coach of C.D. Leganés appeared before Wednesday's match in Vila-real.

C.D. Leganés' coach, Borja Jiménez, appeared this Tuesday at the press conference prior to the match that the team will play on Wednesday (19:00) against Villarreal C.F. at the Estadio de la Cerámica, corresponding to the thirty-sixth matchday of the EA SPORTS LALIGA EA SPORTS.

The coach admitted that there will be changes in the starting eleven due to physical reasons: “There may be changes due to physical reasons, fewer days of rest and we believe that there are players who will not be in the best conditions, so there may be some changes. If the match had been on Sunday, we would probably have repeated the eleven, but we have to take care of everyone's condition”.

Despite the difficulty of the opponent, Borja was confident in his team's attitude: “The team has not stopped believing, they showed it the other day with one of the best games of the year. We are very close, although we do not depend entirely on ourselves, the rest of the teams are very close. We are in the fight for something much better than them: salvation”.

About Villarreal, he highlighted their offensive potential: “They are a very talented team, with goals, with great players and they are playing for the Champions League. We will have to be very attentive both when attacking and to the spaces they can exploit”.

The involvement of our players, for the coach, is still total: “The guys have a lot of faith. Of the last three games we have only lost against Barça. We are alive, we are competitive and they have a lot of desire. They show it every day. Then it depends on how they are emotionally and physically. That has to be assessed”.

The coach also mentioned key players such as Diomande, who started the last game: “He played a great match, there is no reason to change him”, and highlighted the special meaning of the match for others such as Dani Raba: “For Dani and Alti it is a special match, for everything they have experienced there. Hopefully tomorrow they will be decisive again as they have always been. Dani is proving that he is one of our players”.

Finally, Jiménez stressed the need to win three points: “We are in a moment where victories are obligatory or necessary. We are going to try, as we try to do in every game, without looking back. If we win tomorrow, we will be one step away from permanence. That's the focus. That's the objective.
