C.D. Leganés beat U.D. Almería at Butarque (2-1), coming from behind to achieve their fourth consecutive victory. Borja Bastón, at the start of the second half, and Omeruo, in the 94th minute, turned around Almeria's opening goal, scored by Sadiq.
Asier Garitano made six changes to the lineup compared to the team that defeated Albacete Balompié on Sunday: Bustinza, Jonathan Silva, Rosales, Shibasaki, Sabin Merino and Borja Bastón came in at the expense of Palencia, Javi Hernández, Luis Perea, Avilés, Róber Ibáñez and Miguel de la Fuente.
Sadiq gave Almería the lead in the first half.
Both teams came out with intensity, looking for the opposing goal, but it was the visitors who took the lead in the 7th minute: Sadiq took advantage of a ball on the edge of the area to face Cuéllar and beat him with a strong right-footed shot. C.D. Leganés tried to react, with a header in minute 13 by Sabin Merino that was caught by Fernando. In minute 17, it was Borja Bastón who had the chance, but his shot was too close to the center of the goal, and Fernando made the catch. And in minute 18, Omeruo took a corner kick and the visiting defense saved his shot under the posts.
Again, the visiting goalkeeper had to intervene in minute 26 in a failed clearance by Chumi, and then it was Eraso who headed too wide. Leganés continued to insist in search of an equalizer, with another chance for Sabin Merino in minute 38 that went high. The '9' repeated in minute 39 with another header that didn't find the target. With the score at 0-1, the game went to the break.
Borja Bastón equalized at the start of the second half and Omeruo, in minute 94, gave Leganés the three points.
Asier Garitano moved the bench after the restart, bringing on Palencia and Róber Ibáñez in place of Bustinza and Rosales. Jonathan Silva crossed from the left and Borja Bastón connected with an impeccable header that beat Fernando and put the equalizer on the scoreboard: it was his fifth goal so far this season and put the score at 1-1 on the scoreboard.
After the hour mark, Luis Perea and Kevin Bua replaced Shibasaki and Sabin Merino. In minute 70, Almería scored through Sadiq, but the VAR disallowed the goal due to an infringement and the tie remained on the scoreboard. In minute 78, Miguel de la Fuente replaced Borja Bastón in attack, refreshing the forward line. The tension was palpable on the pitch, with both teams playing for their last chances.
And, in the 94th minute, the madness was to come: a dead ball into the box extended to the far post, Eraso did not hook it well but the ball fell to Omeruo, who connected the shot and scored the 2-1. A goal that gave the three points to Leganés, which is placed with 46, in fourth position and three points away from the promotion places. The next match will be this Sunday (14:00), again at Butarque against C.D. Tenerife.
