C.D Leganés could not get any points after their visit to C.D Castellón (2-0). The pepineros had chances to score but an own goal by Ignasi Miquel and another goal by Zlatanovic on extra time defined the match at Castalia.
José Luis Martí made some changes in the first team compared to the one that played from the beginning against F.C Cartagena: Ignasi Miquel, Eraso, Shibasaki and Arnaiz replaced Rosales, Avilés, Luis Perea and Juan Muñoz in the starting line-up.
Bad luck for Ignasi Miquel put rivals on front
The pepineros started the match with high intensity looking to score first and had three chances on the first fifteen minutes: a free kick by Gaku Shibasaki that went wide, a cross by Sabin Merino and a header by Arnaiz that Whalley stopped.
Diego Conde had to intervene by rejecting a shoot by Rubén Díez. Arnaiz and Borja Bastón tried without luck some minutes later. C.D Castellón went ahead on the score after Ignasi Miquel scored an own goal when he was trying to kick off the ball after a cross.
The white and blues tried to respond the punch by attacking both from the inside and outside: Arnaiz tried again with a left-footed kick that went close to the left post. It was 1-0 after the first half.
Disallowed goal for Omeruo and sentencing by the locals on extra time
José Luis Martí sent Avilés into the pitch replacing Eraso to get deeper into the rivals pitch. Avilés himself had his first chance in the 52’ after shooting against Whalley’s goal and helped on another occasion that Borja Bastón could not finish. Arnaiz had another chance later but Whalley managed to stop it with a great save.
Martí made a double substitution in the middle of the second half: Palencia and Santos replaced Tarín and Sabin Merino. The defender from Cataluña made his debut with the pepineros. C.D Leganés managed to score in the 75’ through Omeruo but the referee called off the goal after consulting with VAR.
Rubén Pardo also made his debut in the 77th replacing Shibasaki. Juan Muñoz also got into the pitch at the end of the match and he did it replacing Arnaiz. The locals managed to increase their lead through Zlatanovic at the end of the match. C.D Leganés remains with six points and its next match will be on Monday, October 12th (18:30h) against Girona at Butarque.
