C.D Leganés seeks to win again at Las Gaunas

C.D Leganés will visit U.D Logroñés on Saturday (20:30h) at Las Gaunas. It is the first time that Leganés will play in that stadium after its inauguration in 2002. The pepineros played a total of four matches in the previous stadium and won on their last visit in 2000.

The white and blues faced the extinct C.D Logroñés on four occasions at Segunda División in the 90s. The first match between both teams was in January 1996 with a 3-1 defeat despite Melgar’s goal. The team could not get any points in the 1997/98 season, falling by 2-0.

The pepineros’ only win was in 2000

Riojanos and pepineros faced each other again in the last matchday of the 1998/1999 season, that day they ended up with a draw (0-0) which allowed both teams to keep the category for another year. The last visit to Las Gaunas was in 1999/00 and C.D Leganés managed to get a 0-1 win with a goal by Pachón.

The pepineros will fase U.D Logroñés for the first time in history after C.D Logroñés’ extinction. The club was founded in 2009 and plays its matches in Las Gaunas stadium which was inaugurated in February 2002.
