C.D. Leganés, to end the malediction of Girona

C.D. Leganés will visit Girona F.C. this Sunday, an opponent they have faced nine times in official matches throughout their history and against whom they have never won: the pepineros could only manage four ties and lost in the other five matches.

In their trips to Girona, C.D. Leganés could only manage two ties in the four matches played at Montilivi. The first of these, in April 2015, ended in a 2-1 Catalan victory, despite the Pepineros taking the lead in the second half thanks to a goal by Chuli. The following season, Asier Garitano's men earned a valuable point on their way to promotion, tying (1-1) with a goal from David Timor.
Already in the top flight, Girona F.C. clearly won the 2017/18 season's clash 3-0. The last clash so far at Montilivi dates back to November 10, 2018, with Mauricio Pellegrino in the pepineran bench, and ended in a goalless tie (0-0).
