The VAR disallowed a goal for the home side in an evenly matched first half.
Girona almost took the lead in minute 10, when Bueno took advantage of Cuéllar's rebound from Samu Sáiz's shot to score, but the VAR disallowed the goal for offside. In minute 24, it was Bárcenas who had a volley that went high. Leganés tried to stretch out on the right through Avilés, who narrowly missed a through ball from Sabin Merino.
The pepineros were looking to deploy down the flank, with Javi Hernández and Róber Ibáñez trying to find depth on the left, as in an action of the Valencian on the back line that did not find a finisher. With the score at 0-0, the game went to the break.
Kevin Bua gave Leganés the lead when he took advantage of an assist from Eraso.
With no changes after the restart, C.D. Leganés remained well organized and looking for their chance. In minute 55, Asier Garitano made a double substitution, bringing on Palencia and Shibasaki for Avilés and Róber Ibáñez. In 57', Javi Hernández had a clear chance inside the area when he received a pass from Rubén Pardo, but his shot was too close to the target and Juan Carlos made an easy catch.
Midway through the second half, Kevin Bua and Miguel de la Fuente came on for Rubén Pardo and Sabin Merino in search of more attacking intensity. And, in 74', the Pepineros took the lead precisely through the Swiss Kevin Bua: the '22' combined with Eraso inside the area and took advantage of the back pass from the Navarrese to beat Juan Carlos with a powerful right-footed shot. It was his second goal in the C.D. Leganés shirt and his first in LaLiga SmartBank.
Once again Bua, in extra time, sentenced the match for the pepineros.
Miguel de la Fuente was on the verge of scoring the second with a cross shot on a counterattack that went just wide. And then it was Eraso who found the goalkeeper Juan Carlos who prevented the 0-2. In stoppage time, it was finally Kevin Bua who stole the ball and got in front of Juan Carlos to subtly beat him and seal the match.
Second consecutive victory for the pepineros, who won for the first time in Montilivi and are placed with 40 points in the table. Their next match will be on Sunday 14 (18:15) against Albacete Balompié in Butarque.
