C.D. Leganés wins at Las Palmas and does not give up (0-1)

A goal by Raba in the 7th minute gave the three points to the Pepineros.

C.D. Leganés beat U.D. Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium (0-1), in a match corresponding to the 37th LALIGA EA SPORTS matchday. A goal by Raba in the 7th minute gave the three points to the pepineros, who will reach the last matchday of the championship with permanence options.

Borja Jiménez introduced three substitutions compared to the team that started the last matchday in Vila-real: Nastasic, Juan Cruz and Munir started in place of Rosier and Neyou, who remained in Madrid with discomfort, and Yan Diomande, who started on the bench on this occasion. The match started with a first chance for Las Palmas in minute 4 in the boots of Moleiro, which Dmitrovic saved with a great intervention to send the ball to a corner.

Raba, assisted by Juan Cruz, headed Lega ahead in the 7th minute

But in minute 7', Leganés took the lead in their first arrival in the Gran Canaria area: Juan Cruz put the ball in from the left for Raba, who headed the ball past Horkas. Sánchez Martínez disallowed the goal in the first instance for offside, but the VAR corrected the decision and validated the goal of the '10', the eighth in the present LALIGA. Lega had the second in Munir's boots in minute 16, but McKenna saved under the posts with the yellow goalkeeper already beaten. Munir himself had to leave the field in 19' injured, entering in his place Yan Diomande.

The pace of the match slowed down around the half hour mark, with Leganés trying to increase the lead but without taking too many risks and Las Palmas looking for the equalizer, almost always through the boots of Moleiro. With no further approaches to the penalty area, and with Leganes' advantage at a minimum, the game went to the break.

The Pepineros defended their advantage in the second half to reach the last day of the match alive

The second half began with the second substitution forced on Leganés, with Óscar Rodríguez coming on in place of Raba, who was leaving with discomfort. In minute 50, a goal was disallowed for offside by Javi Hernández, who assisted Diego to score, but in an advanced position. Cissé had a chance in minute 64 after a great assist from Juan Cruz, but the Guinean midfielder's shot went high in the one-on-one.

Entering the last quarter of an hour of normal time, Borja Jiménez made his third substitution, bringing on Sergio González in the center of defense in place of Nastasic, who also left with physical problems. And in the 87th minute, Duk and Miguel came on for Juan Cruz and Diego to give air to the attack in the final moments. There was no time for more, and Leganés took the three points to continue fighting for permanence and reach the last matchday alive.

The pepineros have 37 points and will close LALIGA next weekend in Butarque against Real Valladolid, with the need to win and that R.C.D. Espanyol does not win in their match against U.D. Las Palmas to stay in the top flight.
