Iván López: “Playing Segunda B’s promotion play-offs must be incredible”

Ivan López, the captain of C.D Leganés B is certainly one of the players that know best what “sentimiento pepinero” means. The 21 years old youth squad player has played at the club since he was just 7 years old and now leads the team with the captain’s bracelet aiming to reach promotion spots after winning against the Tercera División’s group VII leaders. “Playing Segunda B’s promotion play-offs must be incredible, just to imagine the pitch full of our people and playing at other pitches in Spain makes me chill. We Will give our best to be there”, remarks the captain.

Iván or “Ivi” as his El Carrascal neighborhood’s friends use to call him insists on the importance of team atmosphere as the key to the team’s performance this season (3rd position with 40 points). “We have an amazing team right now. The dressing room atmosphere is amazing, and we are performing really well on the pitch. Both individual and collective perspective is just great. Even though we need to continue improving, the last victory allows us to keep on track for the future”.

Playing for the team is certainly special for the central defender because of his deep connection with the club. “I’m very proud to wear the second team captain’s bracelet. I was born and raised in Leganés and wearing this bracelet demands to represent the values that have been taught to me on the club since I was 7 years old. I try to be an example for my teammates, the little ones and my brother. Being a good person is beyond being a footballer” the defender claims.

This season has been particularly special for López, he has been called up to the first team for a game this season. On November 7th, Iván was one of the 18 players listed to play against Real Sociedad at Donosti on Javier Aguirre´s first match as C.D Leganés Manager. “You always dream big. Just to be training with the first team is a unique sensation for me. To be called up for Real Sociedad’s match is the best memory I’ve had since I’m playing football. The dressing room was really kind with me and helped me to feel as part of it. I really wish to make an official debut with the first team soon”, concludes López.
