Paco López: “I'm excited and eager to get started”

The new coach of C.D. Leganés was presented this Wednesday.

C.D. Leganés presented this Wednesday Paco López as its new coach for the upcoming 2025/26 season. At a press conference held at the Butarque Sports Facility, which was attended by the president, Jeff Luhnow, and the director of soccer, Andrés Pardo.

The club's president, Jeff Luhnow, began the event by welcoming the new coach: "We wanted a coach with experience, who knows what it means to be promoted and who fits our philosophy. For his part, Andrés Pardo defined the new coach with two words: attitude and gratitude. "We have the best possible coach. The new Pepinero coach was enthusiastic about this new challenge: "From the first contact with Jeff and Andrés I felt a great confidence. I am proud to be at C.D. Leganés, a club with history, with a wonderful supporters and that is growing in many aspects. I feel very identified with its values and with the ambition to return to the top flight".

Paco also wanted to highlight the role of the fans: "I know the Leganés fans very well. As a rival, I have always felt the energy of Butarque, and the atmosphere of the last game was a sign of what this club represents. It's a cliché, but together we are stronger. We're going to work to make the team and the stands feel reflected in our game".

On the model he wants to implement, the coach explained: "We have a very clear idea of the game. We want to be a brave, vertical team that dominates all phases of the game and knows how to adapt according to the characteristics of its players. That is what we will be building day by day".

Paco López has signed for one season with the option of a second depending on objectives. He was satisfied with the facilities and is already working with the sports management in the planning of the squad: "There are many things to analyze, but I am convinced that we are going to build a competitive group. The important thing is not only the destination, but the path we take to get there. And that road is made with demand, ambition and illusion", he concluded.
