Paco López: "I want to give a lot of credit to my team. It is a reward for the work we had been doing in previous matches."

The coach of C.D. Leganés spoke after Sunday's victory in Granada.

The coach of C.D. Leganés, Paco López, spoke at a press conference after the match in which Leganés defeated Granada C.F. (0-2) at the Nuevo Los Cármenes. These were his impressions:

Match assessment: "Except for the first twenty minutes, when we were better with the ball and similar to previous matches, it was evenly matched. Any detail can tip the balance, and we had the penalty play that opened the door to more calmness and playing with the score in our favor. At the start of the second half, they were better; in other matches, we haven't had the defensive solidity in our own area that we had today. That's why we came away with the victory."

Return to Granada: "The feeling is like returning to a home I love very much and hold in great affection. It's special because you reconnect with many dear people. I was so comfortable here that I consider it my home. This is a long journey; we all like to start well, but right now, we can't talk about goals like staying up or promotion. From experience, it's not worth talking about long-term objectives for anyone because there will be many twists and turns."

Granada: "Until today, we hadn't won or lost either. This happens everywhere; when you don't win, it's normal for pessimism to start taking over. But they have a mix of veteran players and others who are hungry, they press a lot physically, and many times it's a matter of dynamics, believing, and having faith. From now until the end, there will be many twists and turns."

Defense despite the absences: "I want to give a lot of credit to my team. It's a reward for the work we've been doing in previous matches, where we deserved more. We are very depleted due to injuries and a gastrointestinal virus that has affected the coaching staff and several players. Several team and staff members couldn't travel. The effort of the players is very commendable; teams grow by overcoming adversity, and the result went our way. All the better."

Attack: "The plan was to try to put a lot of people in intermediate areas to create doubts for them. We placed Juan, Cissé, Melero there, a lot of people inside to make them hesitate. Due to circumstances, we didn't have full-backs, so we placed Duk and Naim, who are offensive, in the wide areas. I'm very happy with how the first half turned out, especially the first half-hour. Without the ball, we wanted to contain their attacks down the flanks, which is where they are most dangerous. But we still have a lot of room for improvement because there were things in the second half that I didn't like."
