New C.D. Leganés signing, Róber Ibáñez, spoke to the club press after his return to the Butarque was confirmed the day before. The Valencian signed his contract on Tuesday, passed his medical assessment and participated in his first training session under Mehdi Nafti.
Róber admitted he was "very happy to be back here. The welcome I've received from my teammates has been great, they're delighted I've finally arrived here, and both of us are really as excited as each other. I've been here before; I had other offers but after a middling five months in Pamplona, I wanted to come back to a club that made me feel happy. The two years I spent here I was very content, I trusted in the group, in the potential to mount a big comeback and to finish higher than where we are right now".
"We're going to do everything we can to finish as high as possible"
The pepinero winger believes that "on paper, we're one of the best squads in Segunda. Things didn't start great and they haven't come the way we wanted, but now we have time to launch this new phase. I haven't had the chance to speak much to Nafti, it's only been a day, but the impression I have of him instills a lot of confidence in me. Bit by bit throughout the week, making the most of the international break, we'll keep talking".
The loanee from C.A. Osasuna confirmed that "it would be good if this were the definitive season and I could stay here; you never know, but the club's aware of how happy I am to be back". Róber concluded with a message of his own for the fans: "Althought you couldn't be in the Butarque last year, I hope you know I'm going to give the same as I always have here: movement on the ball, focus on the opposition's goal and hard work to help the team. They believe in this team; we're going to do everything we can to finish as high as possible and turn this situation around".
