French-Moroccan forward Yacine Qasmi made his official presentation as a pepinero this Monday. The striker, who already debuted in blanquiazul on Sunday as the pepineros defeated A.D. Alcorcón looked pleased to be officially welcomed to the club and expressed his hope to return the sentiment by performing on the pitch.
Club sporting director, Txema Indias, welcomed the forward to the Butarque: "I want to highlight the fact we've been speaking for a while, since the start his intentions have been clear and he's got the right mind to wear the badge. He's a player that first got his chance in French football and has worked at it for a long time to take him from competing in Segunda 'B' to professional football, acheiving promotion with the clubs where he has played. We want to welcome him and wish him the best".
Qasmi expressed that he feels "happy to be here. From the outset it was clear in my head; there was interest from other clubs, but having played against this side I knew where they were coming from. Teammates like Kevin Rodrigues spoke of the club very highly to me, I knew Leganés as an outsider, but to be on the inside is spectacular: the facilities, the club, the people... I'm focused on contributing as much as I can to get Leganés where it deserves to be".
"I know how difficult it is to reach this level"
The new number '21' confirmed he is "very excited to debut, you always dream of winning your first game. I knew it was going to be difficult after six months out of action, you need to stay competitive and you lose that edge when you stop. The fans at the Butarque have given the team a huge push and helped secure the victory, in a fickle game. In Segunda every point is important. It was a narrow, but hard-won win and we need to look ahead and aim to take all three points against Tenerife".
The French-Moroccan player admitted "it's hard to define, but I've alwayd played with others around me. I like contact with the ball, I'm collaboraitve and most of all I want to help the team get points. I'm a hard worker and I know how difficult it is to reach this level. The numbers game, as a forward, is always there, but playing up top is more than just scoring. I'm the first person to want to score, but you also have to take behave, stay humble, committed and industrious. I'm grateful for all their faith in me and I hope to repay that on the pitch".
