C.D. Leganés head coach Paco López spoke this Friday in the press conference prior to the match that the pepinero team will play on Saturday (18:30) against Burgos C.F. at the Ontime Butarque Stadium, corresponding to Matchday 12 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
The coach assessed the team’s situation before the match as follows:
Absences: "Pulido and Franquesa, who is still working separately. Also Marvel, due to suspension."
Left‑back: "We’re not going to give clues to the opponent. We have several possibilities and, as always, regardless of the structure we adopt, the important thing is that we perform well as a team."
Jorge Sáenz: "He’s better. The type of injury he has isn’t easy, because discomfort appears with certain movements. But he’s available, and we know that if we need to use him, he’ll perform as he always does."
Feelings: "We’re trying to be consistent, to grow, to improve collectively regardless of results. The feelings remain good, with different nuances in our improvement, and that’s the idea: to continue being a reliable team, with a clear identity, competitive—that is our path."
Fixture schedule: "We’re not looking beyond the match against Burgos. It is important, as every match is. The team must give its maximum level in every game, keep insisting. We know which opponent we will face—a team that is doing things well, that has great confidence in what they do and is being very effective in the opposition box. They grow from their defensive work, as Ramis emphasises, and we will have to do things very well with and without the ball, and be very careful when we lose it because they transition very well on the wings. We know how difficult this competition is, and how hard every match is to win."
Fatigue: "We won’t make excuses; it is what it is. We have to compete. The team is fine, and there are no excuses not to deliver a good performance tomorrow."
Line‑up: "The normal thing is that there will be many more players who did not play in the Copa. But we’re evaluating many things—they’ve recovered very well and everyone is available except the three absences we have."
Álex Millán and Roberto López: "For me the most important thing is the team, and all the players are switched on and ready to start or come on during the match. The other day in the Copa was an example. The most important player we have—and the one we all need—is the team. Everyone must feel important regardless of minutes."
Problems at left‑back: "That’s what we’re here for. At certain points in the season these things can happen. The team has solutions, as it has shown in previous matches. Above individuals there are always collective adjustments to compensate. We’re calm because we’ll solve it in another way. The important thing is that the player has the tools to understand what’s happening on the pitch."
Pauwels as wing‑back: "He’s another option. The other day he played in that position, and he’s one of the players who can play there and perform well, as they have shown in the Copa and in our trophy. We have complete confidence and calmness in that regard."
Duk: "Match analysis needs to be deeper. The other day he was less involved than usual because of the type of match it was. We know he has tremendous potential due to his power, but he must keep insisting on improving."
Gueye: "We follow all the reserve‑team players closely, and many train with us every week. He had a very good match the other day, with great personality. They earn it through training and matches with the reserve team, and above all when they have the chance to participate with the first team."
