On Friday, C.D. Leganés presented striker Luis Asué as their new player, after finalizing his loan with an option to buy from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday.
The club's director of football, Andrés Pardo, opened the presentation ceremony by welcoming the Equatorial Guinean international: "Thank you to Luis for trusting us. He is a striker who can help us a lot because of his profile. I hope it will be a very productive period, that he will fulfill many of his dreams and give us a lot. When we go to the market, we spend two or three months preparing for it. We saw Luis play in Portugal, and that information helps us when the market opens.“
For his part, Asué made these statements in his first appearance as a Pepinero:
Asué: ”I am a hard-working player who tries to contribute to the team in every way."
Opportunity: “I wanted to thank Leganés for giving me the opportunity to continue growing as a person and as a player. It didn't take me long to choose Leganés, I thought it was the perfect club to continue growing.”
How he defines himself: “I am a hard-working player. People focus a lot on numbers, but the important thing is to contribute in every way to the team and that is one of my characteristics as a player.”
Adaptation: “The first few days have been very easy. I've found a family that has helped me in every way to adapt in the few days I've been here. If the coach decides, I'll be ready to help in any way I can.”
Arrival in LALIGA: "Spanish soccer is one of the leagues that everyone wants to play in, and African players are no exception. Some of my teammates have made their home here, and that made me want to come here too.“
Andrés Pardo: ”We're open to everything, but the main priority in this transfer window has already been covered."
On other matters, Andrés Pardo was asked about the failure to sign Lucas Pérez and possible moves in the final days of the transfer window:
Lucas Pérez: “It was a situation in which both parties had to be comfortable. After that process, we both agreed that it was best not to continue with that situation.”
Possible departures: “In a transfer window with a few days left, a thousand things can happen that you can't control. Right now, we're calm. I can't say that nothing will happen, but for the moment, we're calm.”
Possible arrivals: “As long as the transfer window is open, you can always consider signings or departures. We were very focused on signing attacking players, and we've done that with Dani and Luis, who is powerful in the box, committed, and a good team player. With those priorities covered, anything can happen. We're open to everything, but we already have our main priority in this transfer window".
